You need a mini stereo interconnect - RCA stereo soundcard for connection between soundcard of the computer and SoundMax speaker. These were provided when you buy SoundMax speaker.

Connect between the soundcard 2.0 and SoundMax speaker 2.0

The way to connect speakers 2.0 is very simple. You only need to connect interconnect as in the picture.
Stereo signal from Output of sources (DVD, CD, VCD, PC ...) will be brought to Input of speaker 2.0, and then signal of Output of that speaker will connect with the remaining speaker.

Layout of SoundMax Speaker 2.0

Advice on layout of speaker 2.0:

Step 1: Put left, right speaker and you to be an equilateral triangle. You are third top.

Step 2: Put two speakers away from each other around 1,8-2,5 meters.

Step 3: Put speakers away from the wall. Distance from the wall to the back of the speakers and from the wall edge to the speakers should not be the same.

Step 4: Use the base or anti-resonance materials to change the height of the speakers. Speakers must be equal with your ears or treble speaker is equal with your head. (See picture)

Step 5: Try with this tilt angle of the two speakers, they must be faced you in a corner around 30 degree but should not turn towards the listeners. (See pictures)

Step 6: Try with this tilt angle, turning the speakers on the left or righting a little until you hear the most satisfied sound.

Tips:

“Tilt angle” at 30 degrees will give you a feeling as you are standing at the center of stage, but you will lose the depth of this stage. More far away from wall speakers are, more depth there is. To listen treble is most accurate; speakers must be far away from interior decoration objects. You must put speakers near the wall to increase treble volume, but this will reduce the quality of sound. When you put speakers in most reasonable place, you no longer feel as music is broadcast from speakers.

The way to connect speakers 2.1 is very simple. You only need to connect interconnect as in the picture.
Stereo signal from Output of sources (DVD, CD, VCD, PC ...) will be brought to Input of speaker 2.1, and then signal of Output of that speaker will connect with the remaining speaker.

Advice on layout of speaker 2.1:

Speaker 2.1 only being different with stereo speaker is that it has more subwoofer speaker. You could repeat from step 1 to step 6 of the instruction on layout of the stereo speaker 2.0 as the following:

Step 1: Put left, right speaker and you to be an equilateral triangle. You are third top.

Step 2: Put two speakers away from each other around 1,8-2,5 meters.

Step 3: Put speakers away from the wall. Distance from the wall to the back of the speakers and from the wall edge to the speakers should not be the same.

Layout of Subwoofer speaker
Subwoofer speaker is the key point in the system “theater at home”. Conversely, this speaker was not requested much of its position. Because the low-frequency is transferred in all directions, therefore, you can layout it anywhere and still be good listening.

Subwoofer is positioned near the wall; the sound of treble will be more. And if you put it in a wall edge where the border of sounds will be converged at both three dimensions, it sounds more and larger.

But remember that when the volume is high, the quality of sound will be reduced. Treble, in this time, will be not clear. You should choose a place which is reconciliation between volume and quality of sound.

Tips:

One method is very effective in layout subwoofer speakers is to put it at place you want to sit down. Then, you open music, walk around the room, and listening. You'll find that treble will be heard differently in different positions in the room. Put subwoofer at place you heard well.

CONNECT BY ANALOG SIGNAL – SPEAKER 4.1
Connect between the soundcard 2.0 and SoundMax speaker 4.1
Speaker 4.1 insists of:
• 1 Subwoofer
• 1 Front-Left, 1 Front-Right speaker (FL, FR)
• 1 Rear-Left, 1 Rear-Right speaker (SL, SR)

Two cases of connecting speaker 4.1 with soundcard:
Connect with soundcard 2.0:
If you have soundcard 2.0, you still use it. The system of SoundMax speaker will set the sound up 4.1from 2.1.
Instructions for connecting interconnect:
1. Connect from Line out of Soundcard to input FL & FR of Subwoofer.
2. If your model has switch 2.1/4.1, you must transfer this one into 2.1

Connect with soundcard 4.0:
Instructions for connecting interconnect:
1. Connect from Line out of Soundcard to input FL & FR of Subwoofer.
2. Connect from Rear out of Soundcard to input SL & SR of Subwoofer.
3. If your model has switch 2.1/4.1, you must transfer this one into 4.1

Connect between soundcard 2.0 and SoundMax speaker 2.0
Note: Generally, in some speakers 4.1, there is more a switch to input 2.1 or 4.1. Select switch in position 2.1 when connecting to the audio source of 2 Stereo channels from CD, DVD, VCD, or SoundCard2.1. The system will set the sound up 4 channels. Select switch in position 4.1 when connecting with the audio source of 4 channels.

Layout of SoundMax 4.1

Advice on layout of speaker 4.1:

Step 1: Put left, right speaker and your seat to be an equilateral triangle. Let two speakers be near you and in line with TV. Move their position to have an angle of 30 degrees so that you will feel that all sounds are broadcast from TV.

Step 2: Put subwoofer in anywhere in the room.
 
Step 3: Layout RL and RR speaker in behind or along side of your seat. The speakers later must be arranged in higher degree than these two speakers.

Step 4: Turn two speakers provided that they face each other at an angle of about 20 degrees compared with the center.

Tips:

To achieve standard treble, you must layout subwoofer way from the wall.
Try with position of it to get treble without buzzing. In other words, you will not realize that treble sound is broadcast from subwoofer. (Learn more about the layout of subwoofer).
Speakers staying on or near TV must be the type of anti-atmospherics.

CONNECT BY ANALOG SIGNAL – SPEAKER 5.1
Connect between the soundcard 2.0 and SoundMax speaker 5.1

You need a mini stereo interconnect - RCA stereo for connection between soundcard of the computer and SoundMax speaker 5.1. These were provided when you buy SoundMax speaker 5.1.

Connection as below:
Connect between soundcard 2.1/5.1 with SoundMax speaker 5.1

Connect between soundcard of the computer and speaker Hero or Intelligent

Connect between soundcard of the computer and speaker Hero or Intelligent

The system of speaker Hero and Intelligent allows you connect signal 2.0 and it will set the sound up 5.1. You need a mini stereo interconnect - RCA stereo for connection.
For Soundcard 2.0: Connect Output of Soundcard at Line Out to CD of speaker Hero or Intelligent.
For Soundcard 5.1: Connect Output of Soundcard at Front Out to CD of speaker Hero or Intelligent.

Connect between DVD player and SoundMax speaker 5.1
Connect Output of DVD with Input of SoundMax speaker. You must have 6 RCA – RCA interconnects.

Picture on left is to instruct about connecting signal of a normal DVD player. Your DVD player maybe different but the principle is the same.

Way to connect DVD player to SoundMax speaker5.1 as below:
Normally, interconnects are distinguished by color. For convenience, they are the following colors:
Red:    FR
White:    FL
Blue:   RR
Yellow: RL
Grey:   Center
Black:   Sub-woofer

CONNECT BY DIGITAL SIGNAL WITH MODEL HERO & INTELLIGENT
Connect between Soundcard and Model Hero or Intelligent:
Being different with Analog, digital signal only needs an interconnect wire by Coaxial or Optical wire. At present, in Vietnam, there are some distributors Soundcard for Digital signal which are able to be used with speaker Hero or Intelligent. We command: Sound Blaster Live! Card 24 bit or relative ones.

Connect between DVD player and Model Hero or Intelligent:
Most of the latest DVD player has a Coaxial or Optical Output (sounds of optical cable are less atmospherics). You can choose both types of connections, linking to Input signal of speaker Hero or Intelligent. But you can sing Karaoke in one input only. Then, you should check DVD player whether it opened signal Digital out or not. For example, California DVD model, you must:

Setup Menu -> AUDIO SETUP -> SPDIF OUTPUT -> ON.
Setup -> Audio Setup -> Code Dolby -> ON.

Connect between DVD player and Model Hero or Intelligent

Advice on layout of speaker 5.1:

Step 1: Put left, right speaker and your seat to be an equilateral triangle. Let two speakers be near you and in line with TV. Move their position to have an angle of 30 degrees (see picture) so that you will feel that all sounds are broadcast from TV.

Step 2: Put central speaker stay on TV or in the same shelf.
 
Step 3: Put subwoofer in anywhere in the room.

Step 4: Layout RL and RR speaker in behind or along side of your seat. The speakers later must be arranged in higher degree than these two speakers.

Step 5: Turn two speakers provided that they face each other at an angle of about 20 degrees compared with the center.

Tips:

To get the most truthful sound, you must layout central speaker in height as treble of previous speaker.
Try with position of it to get treble without buzzing. In other words, you will not realize that treble sound is broadcast from subwoofer. (Learn more about the layout of subwoofer).
Speakers staying on or near TV must be the type of anti-atmospherics.

When using any line of speakers, you need to note a few following issues:

• Place in dry, anti-falling.
• Use the correct voltage source suggested by the manufacturer.
• Connect interconnect, cable on right diagram.
• Do not open the main volume too big when you open source as well as plug interconnect.
• When connecting interconnects, you have to make sure the source is turned off.
• With the speaker used in first time, you should read carefully directions for use because in which there will have necessary information for you.
• When there are technical problems, you should find a help from the warranty centers or the manufacturer.

• For speakers 2.0, 2.1, you only need to install right color of interconnect.
• For speakers 4.1, you need to pay attention to switches which has to be selected in mode of audio into 2.1 or 4.1. 
• Placing of Subwoofer, 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers has to be suitable with position and space of listening. 
• For speakers 5.1, you must layout these speakers for matching in order to achieve best audio effect.
